This website is dedicated to my time spend at Edmond Memorial High School in Oklahoma from Spring 2013 to Spring 2016. I shared Intro to art courses with two other art educators (ceramics/photography). I was the school's instructor for Drawing I, 3D Construction, Art 2, Painting I, Painting II, AP 3D, AP Drawing, and AP 2D Design. I was also the sponsor for an after school ArtClub which ran bi-annual art exhibits for the public inviting hundreds of guests, field trips, fundraisers and support art competitions/activities.
I went on to teach drawing for design and illustration at the University of Central Oklahoma's Graphic Design Program from Fall 2016 to Spring 2018. I recently accepted a position at Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) to teach in their foundations program. My husband Mike Wimmer, has been working at SCAD's Illustration dept in 2017-2018 and we've decided to make Savannah our new home and have relocated our residence.
Please enjoy this website and it's resources. I'm quite proud of their accomplishments over the past few years,

"Let a student enter school with this advice: No matter how good the school is, his education is in his own hands. All education must be self-education. -Robert Henri (1865-1929)
Making art is a personal adventure. My position is to instruct you in mediums, techniques, and help you develop your visual skills as an artist. The rest is up to you. What you choose to do with these skills will determine your success in this classroom devoted to creating art as a creative thinker.
INTRO TO ART is a semester course that introduces students to the various elements and principles of creating art as a form of study. This is a prerequisite for all other art classes.
3D CONSTRUCTION is a semester long course. Develop your research, sketches, rendering, 3D digital introductions, and finally 3D constructions. Teamwork is a class expectation. Research and merging disciplines is a priority.
DRAWING begins must-have skills in comparative size-sight method with pencil & charcoal. We work towards rendering drawings using basic shapes and stressing solid observational skills with critical visual thinking in composition using line, value, shape, texture, space and form. Strong practical use of rulers.
PAINTING is a semester course introducing wet mediums and development of skills through observation. Watercolor, acrylic, oils and mixed media through still life and illustration assignments. This is a fundamental course of introducing mediums and techniques.
PAINTING II (new for 2015-2016) is a semester long course that allows students into intermediate studies of painting. Largely focusing on surfaces and painting from observation (3d to 2d) transitions.
